Randy Bachman is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer. He was born on September 27, 1943, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Bachman is best known as a founding member of two popular rock bands, The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO).

In the late 1960s, Bachman co-founded The Guess Who, a Canadian rock band that achieved international success. He served as the lead guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist for the group. The Guess Who had several hit songs, including "These Eyes," "American Woman," and "No Time," which helped establish them as one of the most successful Canadian rock bands of the era.

In the early 1970s, Bachman left The Guess Who due to creative differences and formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) with his brothers, Tim and Robbie, as well as Fred Turner. BTO became known for their energetic and guitar-driven rock sound. They achieved commercial success with hits such as "Takin' Care of Business," "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet," and "Roll On Down the Highway."

After leaving BTO in the late 1970s, Bachman pursued a solo career and released several albums. He also collaborated with other musicians and contributed to various projects. In the 1990s, Bachman reunited with The Guess Who for special performances and recordings.
