'Foreign Affair' is the seventh solo studio album by Tina Turner ???? It was Turner’s third album release after her massively successful comeback five years earlier with 'Private Dancer'. It falls under the adult contemporary genre and features a diverse range of musical styles, from pop-rock anthems to bluesy tracks and power ballads.

While 'Foreign Affair' did not perform as well as Turner’s previous albums in the US, it was a worldwide hit, selling over six million copies. In the UK alone the album sold over 1.5 million copies entering the UK Albums Chart at number-one and staying in the Top 100 for a year and a half.

"The Best" became a signature song for Turner, but it was originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler on her 1988 album 'Hide Your Heart'. When Turner heard Tyler’s original version, she called co-writer Holly Knight and said she’d record it if they could make a few changes. Instead of the guitar solo, she had Knight add a bridge followed by a saxophone solo. She also changed the key to go up in the last part of the song.

Turner sang "The Best" in Pepsi commercials soon after the song was released in a cross-promotion for her Foreign Affair tour. Other brands to use the song in commercials include T-Mobile, Applebee’s, and Pringles, which used it in a 2023 Super Bowl spot.
