“The Consequences of Love” (Le Conseguenze dell'Amore) is a 2004 Italian film written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. It stars Toni Servillo and Olivia Magnani. In the film, Titta Di Girolamo (Servillo), a mysterious and brooding Italian ex-businessman, begins a platonic relationship with Sofia (Magnani), the barmaid at the Swiss hotel where he lives. The film is, like all Sorrentino films, quirky and odd, but is memorable. It was filmed in Lugano, Switzerland.
My train of thought was such that it led me to Tina Turner who passed away at her home in Switzerland in 2023. Perhaps the song does not completely reflects the spirit of the film, and vice-versa, but it's close enough.
Tina Turner was a giant figure: one of the best-selling female artists in music history. She was a singer, songwriter, and actress. Known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she rose to prominence as the lead singer of the husband-wife duo “Ike & Tina Turner” before launching a successful career as a solo performer.
“Cose della vita” - a 1993 song by Eros Ramazzotti, originally released in Italian.
The track was re-recorded by Ramazzotti and Tina Turner, and re-released in December 1997 as a single from Ramazzotti's first compilation album, Eros (1997). This time the song was bilingual and retitled "Cose della vita (Can't Stop Thinking of You)". The additional English lyrics were by Turner herself and James Ralston. Ramazzotti later re-recorded a Spanish-language version with Turner's English vocals called "Cosas de la Vida – Can't Stop Thinking of You".
