tina Turner is grieving the loss of her youngest biological son, Ronnie Turner.

Following the passing of her child at age 62 on Thursday, the 83-year-old music legend posted a black-and-white portrait of herself in mourning on Instagram. “Ronnie, you left the world far too early,” she wrote in the caption. “In sorrow, I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son.” The actor's cause of death is not yet known; however, he had suffered from various health issues over the years, including cancer.

According to TMZ, who first reported the story, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call in Encino, California, in which the caller said that Ronnie was having trouble breathing and, a few minutes later, stopped breathing entirely. Bystanders attempted CPR, but Turner was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.

Ronnie's wife of 15 years, French singer Afida Turner, was the first to confirm the news of his death in a post on Instagram, calling him “a true angel” and her “best friend.” She wrote, "I did the best to the end this time I was no[t] able to save you. Love you for this 17 years this is very very very bad and I am very mad." The singer added, "This is a tragedy u with your brother Craig and your father Ike Turner and Aline rest in paradise. So unfair!"

Afida was referring to the death of Ronnie's older brother Craig, who died by suicide in 2018, his father, who died in 2007, and Tina's sister Alline Bullock, who died in 2010.

In a December 2020 interview, Turner spoke to Vanity Fair about the difficult road she's had both personally and professionally, and how she got through it all. “There have been many adverse circumstances that could have destroyed me. But instead, I used them as stepping stones on my journey upward,” she said.

“This transformational process is called ‘changing poison into medicine.’ It’s an ancient concept that has become the hope-filled theme of my life. Simply put, it means that whenever some negativity, or a ‘poison,’ arises, we have the power within ourselves to find the hidden value in it, and to transform it into something beneficial, into a ‘medicine.’ In every crisis, frustration, or disaster is also the potential to learn, to grow, and to propel ourselves toward greater heights of wisdom and fulfillment than ever before.”
