"Workin' Together" was the title track on Ike & Tina Turner's first studio album of the seventies. I've always loved the tune and made a simple video to go with it's simple message....it's not only about black and white, but political parties, countries, and in fact the entire world....the same message that Ike & Tina were sending out to the world 50+ years ago. It's not much but it's something I can contribute to help spread message of peace...for the health and prosperity of all. I hope you guys enjoy it!
About the artist/album/song (including Wikipedia):
The title track, "Workin' Together," peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard R&B chart and No. 105 on Bubbling Under The Hot 100. The second single, a cover of "Proud Mary" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, became the duo's biggest hit. It peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart and reached No. 5 on the R&B chart. It also earned Ike and Tina a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Group in 1972. The third single, a cover of "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" by Jessie Hill, peaked at No. 31 on the R&B chart and No. 60 on the Hot 100. A fourth single, a cover of "Get Back" by the Beatles, was released in Germany.
Workin' Together was Ike & Tina Turner's second album with Liberty and their most successful studio album. Much like their previous album, Come Together, the album features soul-infused covers of rock songs and renewed versions of previous Ike & Tina songs. The album featured the duo's biggest-selling hit, a funk rock cover of "Proud Mary." The B-side, "Funkier Than a Mosquita's Tweeter", was written by Tina's sister Alline Bullock and later covered by Nina Simone.
San Francisco Examiner (November 29, 1970): "Ike and Tina's latest album ... is a superb example of how they combine rock and soul elements. Probably the most musically balanced record of their career, and one of the best pop discs of the year."
About the audio: OK. I understand Sparky did a really deep dive into this track and has made some very noticeable adjustments. At first listen or two, I was uncertain, but after spending a few minutes back and forth between the sound on the pre-adjustment and his post-adjustment....I gotta say, I really love this new sound! Thanks Sparky!!!
About the video:
After debacle with last video, I got behind working on videos, was counting on my first fallback for late Thursday or Friday....didn't make it, so decided to try something quick for Labor Day 2024 (i used to do seasonal/holiday themed uploads much more in the earlier days). This video and/or message may seem a bit naive or silly to some, but I'd say the only thing silly is that anyone should still feel compelled to make videos with such an obvious message. I really rushed through this one...and feel I should take a another hour or so to add a couple new video clips and make some edits that would work better....BUT, time's up. So this is what I can do before Labor Day 2024 gets much further past me.
About the world all around us:
Let's try a little love for a change. :-)
[Lyrics]
Calling out to all my sisters and brothers
Regardless of race, creed or color
The problems of the world will never be solved
Unless we put a little love in our hearts
Workin' together, we can make a change
Workin' together, we can help better things
So let us put our hate aside
And let us let love be our guide
Let's now try a little love for a change
Just try a little love for a change
People disliking one another
Because we were born of a different color
Many are protesting the wars across the sea
'Cause there are people here that are still not free
Workin' together, we can make a change
Workin' together, we can help better things
So let us put our hate aside
And let us let love be our guide
Say, let's try a little love for a change
Let's try a little love for a change
Unless we get together, the world would never survive
And the hopes for the world will surely, surely die
People like you and me should speak up for what is right
Only then will the world see the light
Workin' together, we can make a change
Workin' together, we can help better things
Let us put our hate aside
And let us let love be our guide
Say, let's try a little love for a change
Let's try a little love for a change
Try a little love for a change (Workin' together, we can make a change...)
Oh, let's try a little love for a change (Workin' together, we can help better things...)
If we stick together, we'll make things better, yeah, yeah, yeah (Workin' together, we can make a change...)
Oh, but we got to try a little love for a change (Workin' together, we can help better things...)
Ooh, try a little love, a little bit of love (Workin' together, we can make a change...)
Try a little love, love, love, love (Workin' together, we can help better things...)
